Ford Transit Custom Lease- Everything You Need To Know
A Ford Transit Custom lease offers a smart solution for your growing business and delivery operations. Your commercial vehicle expenses no longer need to drain finances or lock up capital in purchases. Flexible monthly payments combined with hassle-free maintenance options help keep your business moving forward. The traditional burdens of ownership become a thing of the past. This guide will help you compare different lease deals and understand payment terms to secure the right Transit Custom that matches your needs. Your business finances stay healthy while you drive this popular van. SourceWhat Is Ford Transit Custom Leasing?
A Ford Transit Custom lease lets you rent the vehicle long-term with fixed monthly payments. The rental agreement usually runs for 2-3 years and gives businesses a practical way to avoid traditional van ownership. How Van Leasing Works
You start by picking your Transit Custom setup and deciding how long you want to lease it. The process needs an original rental payment, then you make regular monthly payments for the rest of your agreement. Your monthly costs depend on the van’s value, interest rates, and what it might be worth when your contract ends. VAT-registered businesses can claim back VAT on their monthly payments. The maintenance packages are a great way to get complete vehicle care – they cover regular servicing, upkeep, mechanical repairs, and MOT tests.
Benefits of Leasing vs Buying
Leasing comes with several advantages over buying. You need much less money upfront, which keeps your business capital free for other needs. On top of that, monthly lease payments usually cost less than loan payments for buying. A new Ford Transit Custom loses about 45% of its value in the first three years. So leasing protects you because the leasing company takes on that risk. You also get:- Fixed monthly costs to help with budgeting
- Regular upgrades to newer models with better technology
- Full manufacturer warranty coverage
- Possible maintenance package inclusion
- No worries about resale value
Understanding Ford Transit Custom Lease Costs
The Ford Transit Custom lease has several components that affect your total costs. Let’s get into the cost breakdown to help you make a better decision.Monthly Payment Breakdown
Your monthly payments depend on the Transit Custom model and trim level you choose. Business lease rates now start from £217.51 for the Transit Custom 280 L1 FWD model. Several factors affect the payment amount:- Contract duration (24-48 months)
- Annual mileage allowance
- Vehicle specification
- Residual value projections
- Original deposit size

Original Deposit Requirements
The original deposit, which we call the advance payment, ranges from 1 to 12 months’ worth of rental payments. VAT-registered commercial vehicle customers must pay the full VAT amount with their deposit. You can’t put down more than 35% of the vehicle’s value as a deposit. Businesses can pick flexible deposit options that match their cash flow needs. Some dealers have deals with small upfront payments, but this means your monthly payments will be higher throughout the contract.Additional Fees to Think About
The simple lease payments aren’t the only costs you need to think about. You might need to pay processing fees of around £200. Optional maintenance packages start at £22.09 monthly, and they include: Scheduled servicing costs Routine maintenance Tire replacements MOT tests (where applicable) Most contract hire agreements include road fund license for the entire term. You’ll pay extra charges if you drive more than your contracted annual mileage limit. This is why you should estimate your usage carefully when you sign the agreement. The model you pick affects your total ownership cost. The E-Transit Custom Limited offers monthly rates starting at £440 over a 48-month term. This makes it a great choice for businesses that care about the environment.Compare Ford Transit Custom Lease Deals

- Like fixed monthly costs without ownership responsibilities

Key Features of Transit Custom Models
The Ford Transit Custom leads the medium van segment thanks to its versatile engine lineup and practical dimensions. These features play a crucial role in choosing the right lease setup that fits your business needs.Engine Options and Fuel Economy
The Transit Custom comes with an impressive range of powertrains that match different operational needs. The 2.0-liter diesel engine offers four power outputs:- 109bhp version achieving 40.4mpg and producing 183g/km CO2 emissions
- 134bhp variant offering better performance
- 148bhp model that delivers strong pace with smooth operation
- 168bhp option paired exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission
Load Capacity and Dimensions Ford Transit Custom Lease
The Transit Custom shines with its well-designed cargo space. The standard L1H1 setup gives you 5.8 cubic meters of cargo volume. The extended L2H1 variant bumps this up to 6.8 cubic meters. High-roof H2 versions add even more space – 7.7 cubic meters for L1H2 and 9.0 cubic meters for L2H2 models. A sliding side door wider than one meter provides easy access. The rear doors open up to 1,400mm wide. The load area has six tie-down points in shorter L1 models and eight in L2 variants. The load space fits standard 8′ x 4′ boards or three euro pallets flat on the floor. The van’s exterior measurements are spot-on. The H1 model stays under 2 meters tall, so it fits in most parking structures. The load floor sits between 575mm and 593mm high, which makes loading and unloading easier. Inside, the van shows its versatility. L1 models offer a maximum load length of 2,602mm, while L2 variants stretch to 3,002mm. The space between wheel arches measures 1,392mm, which works great for standard pallets and building materials. How to Get the Best Lease Deal
Getting a good Ford Transit Custom lease deal needs you to think about several vital factors. A solid understanding of lease negotiations and contract terms helps you get an agreement that fits your business needs.Negotiating Your Lease Terms
Your success in lease negotiation starts with knowing where you have room to bargain. The original rental payment gives you options from 3 to 12 months’ worth of payments. You could choose a smaller upfront payment, but your monthly costs will be higher. These are the vital points to discuss with lease providers:- Maintenance package inclusion
- Vehicle specification adjustments
- Delivery timeframes
- Contract modification possibilities
Choosing the Right Lease Length
You can pick contract durations from 12 to 60 months to match your business strategy. Your ideal lease length depends on:- Business growth projections
- Vehicle warranty coverage
- Technological advancement needs
- Cash flow considerations
Setting Optimal Annual Mileage
Your annual mileage limits affect your monthly payments directly. Standard mileage allowances range from 10,000 to 30,000 miles per year. Transit Custom leasing lets you pool mileage throughout the contract period. A 3-year contract at 10,000 miles yearly gives you 30,000 miles to use as needed across the term. This setup helps you manage your annual usage better. Excess mileage charges start at 10 pence per mile, so you need accurate mileage estimates to control costs. Here’s how to set your ideal mileage allowance:- Review previous years’ usage patterns
- Account for seasonal business fluctuations
- Consider potential business expansion
- Factor in occasional long-distance requirements
Conclusion
I’ve spent time learning about Ford Transit Custom leasing options, and it’s clear this approach works well for most businesses. Low original costs paired with monthly payments you can count on make it a great alternative to buying – especially since the van loses 45% of its value in just three years. The Transit Custom comes with an impressive range of engines. You’ll find everything from fuel-saving diesels to the new electric E-Transit Custom that can go 236 miles on a single charge. On top of that, its load space and size measurements make it practical for businesses of all types. My research shows your specific needs should drive the choice between personal and business leases. Business users can claim back VAT and get maintenance packages, while personal users get simple, straightforward agreements. Success comes down to getting good terms and knowing your yearly mileage to dodge extra fees. Ford Transit Custom leasing proves to be a smart money move for businesses that need reliable transport without owning vehicles. I don't normally leave reviews but I can't recommend these guys enough, seriously - anyone that's looking to buy a van or other commercial vehicle, give these guy's a call, ask for Tom because you won't be disappointed...!!!
I needed a commercial vehicle for private use as I'm not self employed and therefore paying the VAT upfront is quite a chunk of money to loose so needed it to be wrapped up in the monthly repayment. I'd already tried several other companies before Swiss Vans and non of them were interested. I'd pretty much given up and was looking at 2nd Hand vans until I came across Swiss Vans advert on Facebook. I sent a message (with very low expectation) and the next day I was contacted by Tom Jones (yes, a Welshman called Tom Jones who sells vans...!!!). Tom is the first person that actually took the time to listen to what I needed and how I needed it work. He went away and came back a couple of hours later and explained that initially this wasn't going to be easy to achieve but to leave it with him and that he'd call me the next day. To be honest, I didn't think I'd hear from him again but true to his word he called me the next day and said that he had it all worked out, all agreed and all in place ready to go. Tom fired over the paperwork, I paid the small holding deposit and a few weeks later the vans been delivered and completely exceeded my expectations.
I'm a great believer that 'People buy People', yes Swiss Vans are truly excellent and I'd go as far as to say that in my experience, they're better than the rest but like all other companies they're only as good as the people they have working for them. Tom - I can't thank you enough, you're a credit to Swiss Vans, and Swiss Vans - you're outstanding.
