Tyres can wear out for a number of reasons

Tyre tracking and balancing advice

All the new vehicles we supply have new tyres and load rated as are the alloy wheels
All tyres are balanced and sealed before they get to us
Tyre pressures are always up for debate
We think 45PSI is right for 18 Inch wheels for most vehicles and thats how your van isdelivered. Air is free !
If don’t agree chan ge them !
If you hit a pothole hard or a kerb check the tracking or its likely the tyre will wear unevenly. You should be inspecting your tyres and tracking weekly

2.  Under inflation/ over inflation
Tyres need approx 45 Psi for most vans
Check, its in your handbook. If the van is overloaded or the tyres under inflated they will wear on the outer edges.
Some very high performance vans with a lot of torque will also wear here. Its important to pull off slowly if you have e high performance vehicle.

Excess speed causes premature wear or damage  to tyres, the vehicle, the environment and also places others at risk from accident. Slow down !

  • We recommend that as soon as you get your vehicle that  you have the alignment checked for peace of mind.
Even though in theory the alignment should be 100% we think checking the alignment is a good idea for the future.
  • Avoid harsh cornering and breaking
  • Check tyre pressures weekly – Its inside the fuel flap or online
  • Check tyre wear weekly and look for uneven wear that could be a sign that the tracking requires attention
  • We often get red faced angry customers shouting at us down the phone  us complaining that they have worn their tyres out. After 5- 10 thousand miles. Please don’t as this makes about as much sense as you ringing your local takeaway after you have munched down on your Chicken Korma and saying you are still hungry. We cant control how you drive and how fast you wear them out so please do not get angry with Swiss Vans our our team. This is 100% down to  you. Be angry with yourself and slow down. Don’t be that red faced angry  customer blaming others for their own actions.
  • Smaller tyres take longer to wear out than larger tyres. e.g a 16 lasts a lot longer than an 18 and 20 and so. Customers tend to drive faster on larger tyres thus the wear out faster. Again SLOW DOWN

Tyre Brands

All our vehicles are fitted with economy brand tyres unless you pay for an upgrade. We 100% advise against  upgrades as it often delays the van and of course
you blame us even if we 100% suggest its a bad idea.

Some customers ask why we have not fitted Mitchelin, Pirelli,Yokohama, Space Dust Tyres  etc etc and the answer is a simple
“because you haven’t ordered or paid for this service.”
A bit like asking the waiter why there isn’t Garlic Bread with your steak dinner
Because you haven’t paid for it !!!
Answer is same.

  • Economy brands typically have a longer life than premium
  • If you want a specific brand we can arrange for this but it must be paid for in full as a separate transaction and is not bound by distance selling regulations as its a special order and request.
The moment we order these tyres they are yours paid for in full forever.
  • Allow much longer for delivery if you want a specific brand at least 21 days longer in many cases
If we have allowed for your alloy wheels within a deal you will be making payments on a van that can be sat there
for several weeks or months until they arrive.
  • High performance tyres will often wear out much faster than economy tyres especially in larger size
